Shaheen
Moving & Storage Services is the new name for Peoples Movers, Peoples
Cartage and S & H Group. Shaheen Moving & Storage Services was formed
in June of 2002 when Sam Shaheen purchased the household goods moving
division of Peoples Cartage, Inc. in the Akron/Canton Area.
Peoples Cartage, Inc. was a well-known and long time moving and
storage company that started in Massillon, Ohio with roots to 1914.
It organized under the Peoples Cartage name in 1933 and has been
serving the Massillon and Canton communities as the local representative
of Mayflower Transit, LLC. Mayflower is the oldest and best-known
moving van lines in the country, and we are one of the oldest agencies
in the Mayflower system (since 1933).
Mr. Joseph B. Schrader founded the company in 1914. Mr. Schrader
was a local blacksmith that began selling farm implements and carriages.
His first moving jobs were done with horse and wagon. His family
sold the business to Ray L. Sibila in 1947. Mr. Sibila had been
in the trucking industry since the early 1930's. Under his management,
the company grew rapidly and became a major moving and storage company
in the area. He expanded into the Canton market as well.
The company has stayed in the Sibila Family's hands since 1947.
In 1957, control of the business rested with Ray's son, Ronald R.
Sibila. The business flourished under his management, as its corporate
client base caused the company to become oriented towards transportation
and logistics services. Mr. Sibila also served on the corporate
Board of Directors of Mayflower Transit, LLC and is Chairman of
the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Peoples Services, Inc.
Peoples Services operates in a multi-state area that ranges from
Ohio to New York to Georgia. S & H Group, Inc. was formed in
the early 1990's to provide moving and storage services under the
Mayflower banner in Summit, Medina and Portage Counties.
In early 2002, the company decided to divest themselves of household
goods moving and storage operations to concentrate on its core corporate
business. On June 1, these operations were sold to Samuel F. Shaheen.
Shaheen is a 25-year business professional, born in the Canton area.
He is a graduate of the University of Akron where he also obtained
an MBA. He is active in community events such as the Road Runner
Akron Marathon, the Hall of Fame Festival activities including the
Hoover Company Grand Parade. He is also the Treasurer of Project:
St. Nicholas Returns, a local charity that provides relief to the
needy. He resides in Jackson Township with his wife and 2 children.
The management and staff have almost 100 years of collective experience.
Dan Stoll is our Quality Labor Trainer who drives our movers and
packers through a 200-hour certification and training program. Mike
Holland is our Operations Manager and is responsible to shepherd
your order to its final destination. Our experience and training
shows that you are not sending all of your life's possessions with
a bunch of strangers.
In August of 2002, Mayflower Transit, LLC approved the new company
and its management by accepting it as a fully authorized agent.
In September, 2003, 6 Shaheen Moving employees earned the status
of Certified Quality Packer. At the same time, 5 employees earned
the distinction of becoming a Certified Quality Mover. Our training
system is the best in the industry and our people are the best trained.
In February, 2004, Shaheen Moving was named as the very best Mayflower
agent in the system for our size class by our customers, attaining
a score or 9.33 out of 10 in Mayflower's Q-View Customer Service
Rating System. In addition, we are a Circle of Excellence Achiever.
The Circle of Excellence measures customer service scores along
with 2 measure of claims experience and an operational efficiency
measure. We are most proud of our inclusion in an elite list of
Mayflower agents that have met or exceeded all Mayflower Standards
of Performance while attaining an overall customer "willingness
to recommend" score of better than 80%. Only 13 of our over 400
agents have achieved this honor. |
